How to Enhance Project Sketched Points in Creo Parametric 11.0?

In this TechTip, we explore the latest enhancements in Creo Parametric 11.0 that improve workflow efficiency for designers and engineers. With Creo’s upgraded Project Points feature, users can now project multiple sketched points in one seamless operation—saving time and boosting precision. This is a notable improvement over previous versions, where each point had to be projected individually. Additionally, the Follow Surface option in the Sheet Metal environment now allows projected points to follow the contours of a surface, providing greater flexibility and control in complex designs. These updates are designed to make Creo more intuitive and powerful, enhancing productivity for users in diverse engineering and design applications. Let’s delve into these features and understand how they can optimize your design process in Creo.

Steps to do Enhancements in Projecting Sketched Points:

Below are the step-by-step instructions and tutorial video to do enhancements in projecting sketched points:

Project Points option, Step 1:

  • The Sketched points and the surface on which they should get projected are as shown:

Step 2:

  • Select Project command from the Editing group of Model tab, as shown:

Step 3:

  • In Project dashboard, observe the Project Points option in References tab, as shown below. Observe that only when you check this option, all the sketched points would get projected on the selected geometric target, as shown below:

  • So, check the Project Points option and click OK to project all the sketched points on the selected geometric target in one go.

Step 4:

  • 4) Later, you can use the projected points as a reference to build any other feature like holes, etc, as shown below:

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the enhancements in Creo Parametric 11.0, particularly the new Project Points feature and the improved Follow Surface option, significantly streamline the design process for CAD professionals. By enabling the projection of multiple sketched points in a single operation and ensuring they conform to complex surfaces in the Sheet Metal environment, these updates empower users to create more accurate and efficient designs. Embracing these features not only enhances workflow productivity but also positions engineers and designers to tackle more intricate projects with confidence. As the industry continues to evolve, staying updated with the latest tools in Creo will be essential for maintaining a competitive edge and driving innovation in your engineering endeavors.
